They don’t even have their licenses; nonetheless, 17% of the rural middle schoolers in a recent University of Georgia study reported that they had driven after drinking alcohol. According to the same study, 45% percent of the students (7th and 8th graders) said in the past 30 days they had ridden with a driver who had been drinking. The findings were based on just one school in the Mississippi Delta.
