For three days in July, Pulaski, Wisconsin, becomes the center of the Polka universe. That’s the way it’s been for the past 34 years.Pulaski is a town of just over 3,000 people outside of Green Bay. This is Polish country. The town was named for Polish Revolutionary War general Kazimierz Pułaski, who helped organize our nation’s first cavalry. The music is Polish, the names of the musicians are largely Polish and the food is Polish. The beat is up.This summer’s Pulaski Polka Days featured 22 bands and more pierogi than you could eat in a year. These pictures give you an idea of what happens in Pulaski, but it’s hard to capture the spirit. All we can say is that if you are feeling down about yourself and the world, Pulaski Polka Days is a sure-fire cure.
