Nor has it offered a merit badge in bee keeping since 1995.That’s gotten Christopher busy. The dedicated apiarist has launched a campaign to restore bee keeping in the Scouts program and is soliciting help online (no money involved, just statements of support).The average U.S. bee keeper is 60, and bee colonies, too, have been dwindling. Meanwhile the BSA, concerned over potential liabilities from bee stings, offers merit badges for “shotgun shooting” and “nuclear science” — and “journalism.” Talk about liability!
