The chart shows three categories of “minority majority status.” “2000” counties are those that were majority-minority at the time of the 2000 Census. “2007” designates counties that became majority-minority between 2000 and 2007. “Tipping” counties are those that are at least 40 percent minority and where the minority population grew by at least 2.5 percent between 2000 and 2007.
