For years, journalism has been in decline as small and large newsrooms across the country close their doors. News deserts abound in rural America especially, where the shuttering of local newspapers has left small towns without access to essential information about their communities.

This is where we come in. For more than 15 years, the Daily Yonder has been the leading national newsroom providing quality journalism about and for rural America. We’ve covered everything from broadband disparities to natural disasters to the Farm Bill, and we couldn’t have done it without your help.

Our reporting is always free (we don’t believe in paywalls), and this is possible thanks to donations from people like you who believe everyone deserves quality journalism no matter where they live.

Right now, we’re in the middle of our annual fundraising campaign that allows us to continue this work. For a limited time, every dollar you give will be matched three to one thanks to a national program called NewsMatch that supports independent public journalism. With it, we’ll continue reporting on the most important issues affecting rural communities.

Now is the best time to donate to the Daily Yonder, and every dollar helps. Thank you for supporting rural journalism.

Your contribution is appreciated.

Note, contributions from individuals are eligible to be matched up to $1,000 per donor from November 1 to December 31, 2023, to a combined total of at least $13,000, through the NewsMatch national-matching program. The Daily Yonder is eligible to receive an additional $10,000 in matching funds thanks to support from the Wyncote Foundation. These matching funds run concurrently, which means every dollar we raise, up to $10,000, is matched twice. Monthly recurring donations are matched at the 12-month value of the donation, up to $1,000. For more details about eligibility see NewsMatch guidelines.

The Daily Yonder is a project of the Center for Rural Strategies, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Gifts may be tax deductible; consult a tax adviser for more information.
